ESPOO, Finland -- On the final day of the group stage of the 2024 IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Championship, teams battle for seeding, while some trying to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

GROUP A

United States (3-0-0) vs. Finland (3-0-0)

Winner of this game will finish first in Group A.

Led by Cole Eiserman, James Hagen and Cole Hutson, the Americans have waltzed their way to a series of easy wins over Slovakia, Norway and Latvia, outscoring opponents 24-3.

Finland might not be as dominant as the U.S., but they come into Tuesday with a lot of confidence. The hosts have allowed just one goal thus far, and have back-to-back shutouts over Norway and Slovakia.

Slovakia (0-0-3) vs. Norway (1-0-2)

  • Time: 7 a.m. ET
  • Where: Metro Arena (Espoo, Finland)

It has not been a fun tournament for Slovakia. The team has managed just three goals so far, all of which coming in a 5-3 loss to Lativa last Friday.

Norway managed to stay in line for a spot in the quarterfinals by beating the aforementioned Latvians on Monday. They sit in a good spot to move on, as long as they do not lose to Slovakia by more than four goals.

GROUP B

Sweden (1-1-1) vs. Switzerland (1-0-2)

In a crazy scenario, there is a chance that Sweden can not advance to the quarterfinals. With just one win on their record, and an overtime loss to Czechia, they sit third in the group. Switzerland’s only win came against last-place Kazakhstan.

Both teams will advance if Kazakhstan loses to Canada. If Switzerland loses in regulation to Sweden, Kazakhstan can leapfrog them with a win of any kind.

Canada (3-0-0) vs. Kazakhstan (1-0-2)

  • Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • Where: Vantaa Trio Arena (Vantaa, Finland)

Canada has rolled to first place in Group B. Led by a dominating duo of Gavin McKenna and Porter Martone, the Canadians have scored the second-most goals in the tournament, only trailing the Americans.

Kazakhstan earned their first win in tournament history, by stunning Czechia with an overtime win on Monday. The victory gives the small nation a chance to sneak into the quarterfinals. If they can somehow pull off the upset in regulation, they will move beyond the group stage for the first time. The only way Kazakhstan can move on with an overtime or shootout win is if Switzerland loses in regulation.
