Roberto Firmino did his nice guy image no harm at all by buying a round of 200 beers at a restaurant in his hometown in Brazil.

The Liverpool striker was back in his home country after helping the Selecao to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, report the Liverpool Echo.

Firmino popped into a local Japanese restaurant New Hakata for a meal.

So impressed was he by the surrounds on his first visit that he offered to buy a beer for everyone present.

Given there were more than 200 customers in the restaurant at the time, it was quite a big round.

The good times didn't end there, either.

Although the establishment usually closes at 12.30am, Firmino persuaded the owners to keep the party going until 3am with the present band continuing to play.

Ede de Cassia, manager of New Hakata, said to UOL Esporte in Brazil: “He spent the whole night with people taking pictures with him, and was always very polite.

“Then he called me over and asked 'How many people do you have here?'. I said between 200 and 300, and he said he could give everyone a round of beer.

“I asked if I could tell people this, and he said yes. So the singer of the band spoke into the microphone that Firmino was buying everyone a round of beer.

“At first, the reaction was positive, but after that I had to contain people!”

Roberto Firmino, ladies and gentlemen. A thoroughly top, top bloke.
