Liverpool’s own cheese cafe and deli, Cheese & Co, is every cheese lovers dream.

Customers can look through a selection of artisan cheeses and pick what cheese they would like to feature on their cheese board.

Even though Cheese & Co is a cafe you won’t have to stick to tea, coffee or soft drinks.

The venue also serves wine - because it would be rude to deny somebody a glass of wine with a cheese board.

Lunya

Spanish deli, restaurant and bar, Lunya takes cheese very seriously.

The Liverpool ONE restaurant and deli has 41 cheeses to choose from.

The majority of which are Spanish, so if you’re looking to try something a little bit different Lunya is for you.

One of the cheeses on offer is Sierra de Cadiz, it contains sheep’s milk cheese that has been matured for 12 months.

Another favourite of Lunya is San Simon, a smoked cow’s cheese from Galicia that havs a mild creamy and buttery taste.

Customers can pop in and try a cheese board in the restaurant or purchase the cheese from the deli and take it home.

It also has a large selection of wines on offer.

Halfa Halfa - Baltic Market

Every couple of months, the Baltic Market switches food traders but one trader has been in such high demand that it’s not leaving any time soon.

Halfa Halfa’s halloumi fries are one of the most popular menu items for the whole of the independent food market.

David Williams, of Independent Liverpool, said: “When Hafla’s time was up we know we couldn’t lose halloumi fries. So we have built them their very own stall at the Baltic Market.”

Now cheese lovers can enjoy four different types of halloumi fries:

  • Classic with pomegranate reduction, red onions and fresh mint
  • Greek with marinated mixed olives, tomatoes, roasted red peppers and house tzatziki
  • Eastern with sweet chilli sauce, spicy onion and roasted sesame seeds
  • Canadian with bourbon and maple mayonnaise and crispy bacon bits

Executive chef and co-founder of 60 Hope Street, Gary Manning is a cheese connoisseur and he definitely picks the best for his customers.

Some of his favourites include a brie-style cheese from Berkshire made with full fat Guernsey Cow’s milk, and Swaledale, a full fat hard cheese from North Yorkshire made with sheeps, cows and goats milk.

Based on Bold Street, the independent East Avenue Bakehouse is passionate about food, particularly cheese, bread and wine.

It aims to bring its passion and enthusiasm of all things wine, cheese and food to Liverpool and it's doing a brilliant job.

East Avenue Bakehouse is open morning, noon and night and the menu features seasonal local produce.

The bread is baked fresh and the cafe also import its own wine that its owners hand pick.

Liverpool Cheese Company is an independent cheese store and online shop.

It has a wide selection of cheese from the strong Lancashire bomber to the charcoal black cheese.

They sell specialist and artisan cheeses, matured in their grade II listed old dairy in Woolton Village.

Chutney, relish and biscuits can also be bought to accompany your selection of cheese.

They even offer cheese wedding cakes, not to mention hampers, gift sets, cheese tasting packages, baskets and selection packages.

Veeno

Veeno is a place where guests can enjoy great wines and the most authentic Spuntini – platters of meats, cheeses and other appetisers imported from strictly selected Italian producers.

The wines on offer are also produced a family vineyard in Sicily.

It has eight different types of cheese boards available including the Delizia, which is described as ‘a wonderful sharing board with a mix of meats cheeses’, and the Italia described as ‘the king of boards. A selection of all our favourite meats and cheeses.’

But customers can also create their own cheese boards from a selection.

Whitmore & White

Whitmore & White won the award of Cheshire’s best delicatessen at the Food and Drink awards 2016 and it’s easy to see why.

The deli has a great selection of wine favourites and also a more unusual selection from all over the world.

Customers can find bold Malbecs from Argentina, classic Clarets, rich and ripe Australian reds, plenty of idiosyncratic Italian wines and much more.

Their food halls are also a true foodie dream.

They import a range of food and drink from Spain, Italy and France and for them and their customers it has to be the best.

Cheeseboards can be made up and eaten in store or packaged and took home.

Verdant

Verdant brings a French twist to British dining with its a la Carte menus and locally sourced produce.

It served a selection of cheeses from the Liverpool Cheese Company, which are all matured right here in Merseyside.

The cheese boards on offer can be served with black truffle, local figs and a selection of homemade chutneys and biscuits.

They have a wine list with wines supplied by LWC Drinks, which has a portfolio of more than 800 wines.

Behind the bar is an impressive selection of spirits for cocktails and wine alongside a menu that serves a selection of deli board and brunch options.

The Cheese Course at The Lawns at Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa is something to behold.

The trolley features a wide selection of cheeses, with crackers and seasonal breads.

It comes at a £5 supplement off the Sunday Lunch menu that is £25 per person or a £13 supplement with either the tasting menu £80 per person or the a la carte menu £45 per person.

There is also a wine list to match all the ingredients and produce used at the restaurant. Staff will be happy to help and advise customers.

The Club House at Chavasse Park, Liverpool ONE, is a good choice for those that enjoy a glass of wine or two and a nibble on some cheese.

Customers can choose any four items from the deli board and have them served up for £10.95 with fougasse bread, extra items cost £2.95.

The items on offer include Long Clawson stiltion, Shorrocks two-year-aged Lancashire, Berkswell hard ewes' milk cheese, Camembert stuffed with mushrooms and truffle oil and a selection of meat and fish and deli favourites such as hummus.

They also have a varied wine selection that includes Pinot Grigio Riesling Alsios and Cabernet Sauvignon Excelsior.

However, the staff won’t judge if you want a glass of wine or two instead of coffee with your brunch.

On the corner of Hope Street and Myrtle Street, The Refinery is in the heart of the theatre and university district.

There is even an outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice.

Cheeseboards are priced at £6.95 and customers can choose from three cheeses to accompany crackers, piccalilli, tomato chutney and pickled onion.

Cheeses on offer include Channel Island brie, cashel blue, black bomber, Snowdonia red devil and Oakwood smoked cheddar.

Nova

This candle-lit restaurant has a refined vibe and is a perfect place to relax with a bottle of wine and some delicious cheese.

The cheeseboard at Nova Heswall includes a selection of five cheeses, chutney, grapes, celery and crackers.

The cheeses include Red Leicester sparkenhoe, Celtic promise, Brie de meaux, Kidderton ash and Blackstick blue, the cheese board comes with £4.50 supplement.

As well as the hand selected wine on offer Nova also has the finest local and carefully sourced ingredients on offer.
