Netherlands second-largest agricultural exporter in world

BRUSSELS, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- The Dutch agricultural sector exports totalled 92 billion euro (USD 112 billion) last year, making the Netherlands the second-largest agricultural exporter in the world after the US.
Dutch media, quoting the national statistics office Friday, noted that not all the exports were produced in the Netherlands, however. Some 25 billion euro (USD 30 billion) of the total was in the form of re-exports from other countries.
Flowers and flower bulbs once again topped the list of Dutch exports, followed by dairy products.
Germany is the most important destination of the Dutch farm products, accounting for sales of 23.4 billion euro (USD 28.6 billion) in 2017, or 25 percent of total exports.
After Germany, the biggest markets for Dutch agricultural products are Belgium, Britain and France.
Dutch exports of other agriculture-related products such as farm equipment, fertilisers and pesticides totalled 9.1 billion euro (USD 11 billion), bringing the total agricultural sector exports to over 100 billion euro (USD 122 billion) for the first time. (end) nk.gb
