The newly launched Syngenta Portal offers farmers and agronomists immediate access to critical weather data and digital crop management tools on the go, enabling more timely and informed agronomy decisions.

The advanced digital agriculture Syngenta Portal app for smartphones and tablets connects to a comprehensive global database of weather data, tailoring the relevant information to specific farm locations. The weather metrics, chosen by Syngenta agronomists and application experts for their impact on crop growth and management, are presented in an easy-to-understand format.

The Syngenta Portal app is also integrated with the company’s Partnership Plan loyalty programme, allowing growers to access their accounts, receive timely recommendations, discover new products and enjoy exclusive offers. Members can review available rewards, including gift cards for top retailers, 3D ninety nozzles and a range of Apple products.

Registration is straightforward, allowing users to enter farm details and begin receiving personalised agronomy insights. Current users of the original Syngenta myField app may automatically update to the Syngenta Portal by simply updating their registration and farm information.

The first agronomy tool available in the Syngenta Portal is the BlightCast model, which uses the Hutton Criteria to provide a seven-day forecast of disease and infection risks for specific farm locations, helping growers fine-tune their blight protection strategies.

The Quantis TM Heat Stress tool offers a seven-day forecast of potentially damaging temperatures for potato and sugar beet crops. While Quantis should be applied at tuber initiation, it can also help mitigate temperature impacts throughout the season. Early warnings allow growers to take preventative measures and apply Quantis at the optimal time.

The highly regarded Syngenta BYDV Assist will also be available in the app for the autumn season. The platform also paves the way for the addition of other cereal disease forecasting models and crop management tools in the future, according to Syngenta’s customer loyalty lead, Ed Flint.

“Using these tools enables farmers and agronomists to foresee potential risks before they impact on the crop, and in time to take appropriate preventative action,” he explains.

The Syngenta Portal also includes features like spray window opportunities to optimise application timing and offers in-depth analysis of weather data, such as rainfall, soil moisture and temperatures, to better understand the impact on crops at the farm level.

“It now goes one stage further, by providing direct links to solutions and techniques that will help in decision making and practical applications, including essential product label and safety data sheet information,” Ed highlights.

“Using the Syngenta Portal app to support agronomy decisions on a daily basis ensures growers are up to date with the very latest information and advice.”
