OMAHA (DTN) -- Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of April 6. Watch for coverage of these and other topics through the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.

Note that all report release and webinar times are Central Daylight Savings Time unless otherwise noted.

1. April WASDE Thursday: The next World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates reports are released at 11 a.m. Thursday. We'll have a flash article on the numbers that time, followed by updates and analysis throughout the hour. As long as the electrons cooperate and the creek don't rise, we'll kick off our Rhett's Reaction webinar, featuring DTN Lead Analyst Rhett Montgomery, at 12:30 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session. To register for that free webinar, go here:https://www.dtn.com/…

2. Weather recovery: Speaking of creeks rising, heavy rains and deadly tornadoes have been hitting areas hard between Texas all the way to Ohio. DTN Ag Meteorologist John Baranick had warned multiple times this past week that weather models indicated there would be massive flooding and damage -- "a flood potential of biblical proportions" -- through southeast Missouri, southern Illinois and into the Mid-South as the region received up to 10 inches of rain in a several-day period. By Saturday night, AP reported there was at least 16 weather-related deaths from the storms, including 10 in Tennessee. "Day after day of heavy rains have pounded the central U.S., rapidly swelling waterways and prompting a series of flash flood emergencies from Texas to Ohio. The National Weather Service said dozens of locations in multiple states were expected to reach major flood stage, with extensive flooding of structures, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure possible," AP reported late Saturday. DTN will follow up on the situation this week.

3. USDA Crop Progress reports start: This week marks the start of USDA Crop Progress reports. We'll carry those reports, along with analysis, each Monday following the report release at 3 p.m. DTN's reports will include analysis on how spring planting is proceeding and crop conditions from April through November. So far, we've heard no sign of these or other regular National Ag Statistics Service reports being affected by the layoffs planned across USDA.

4. Tariff Sales Tax responses: We'll cover the world and U.S. market responses as the sales tax implications of the Trump Administration's tariff schedule begins its first full business week.

5. Economic reports for the week: Monday the Grain Inspections reports hit at 10 a.m., U.S. Ag Trade Data is out at 1 p.m., at 2 p.m. is Consumer Credit reports, then at 3 p.m. comes the first weekly USDA Crop Progress reports. Tuesday at 2 p.m. the Broiler Hatchery and Crop Production Historical Track Records will be out. Wednesday at 9 a.m. is Wholesale Inventories data, followed at 9:30 a.m. by the EIA weekly petroleum and Ethanol Production. At 1 p.m., the minutes of the Fed's FOMC meeting are released. Thursday reports begin at 7:30 a.m. with Grain Export sales, Initial Jobless Claims, Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Core CPI reports. At 11 a.m. the USDA Crop Production and April WASDE reports hit, with our coverage moments after. At 11:15 a.m. we see the Cotton, Grain and Oilseed World Market and Trade from Foreign Agricultural Service. At 2 p.m. Slaughter Weekly numbers are released. Friday, there's the 7:30 a.m. release of the Producer Price Index (PPI) and Core PPI. At 9 a.m. the latest Consumer Sentiment figures are released. At 1 p.m. we'll have Wheat Data and the Season Average Price Forecast, then at 2:30 p.m. is the CFTC's Commitment of Traders report.

Bonus Content: This week starts our annual View From the Cab series, featuring weekly updates from two hard-working farm operations. For 2025 the views come from farms in Nebraska and Alabama. Watch for those stories throughout the crop production season.
