LANCASTER – Golf fans will be able to practice their swings and enjoy a family meal at a proposed Fairway’s Pub restaurant in the Somerset Village retail center at the northeast corner of 20th Street West and Avenue L.
The Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit for the establishment at the March 17 meeting. The commission voted 6-0, with Commissioner Becky Loa absent.
The proposed restaurant, at 1915 West Ave. L, will serve beer and wine on the premises under a Type 41 Alcoholic Beverage Control license. The tenant space is about 2,600 square feet and will include an approximately 500-square-foot dining area for family-style seating and bar-style seating for 14 patrons. There will also be an approximately 500-square-foot area that holds two bays for the virtual golf simulators.
Commissioner Irvine Carrillo asked whether children would allowed during the business hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“At all the hours, anybody’s welcome to come, young and old; it doesn’t matter,” applicant Tom Sanchez said. “Everybody will have a good time there.”
He added the objective is to create a simple, family-oriented establishment.
“That’s the goal here is to just make it really fun, happy place for everybody,” he said.
