Florida is the kind of place that feels like it exists purely for fun. It’s got 825 miles of beaches, a theme park the size of Manchester (yes, really), and a wild landscape filled with alligators, flamingos, and all sorts of creatures that look like they belong in a monster film. Whether you’re partying in Miami, lounging on the beach, or embracing your inner adventurer at the Everglades, Florida has something for everyone.

So naturally, I had to go and experience it for myself. What followed was a whirlwind of stunning hotels, unforgettably huge eats, and a few hilarious misadventures along the way. Let’s get into it.

Where to stay in The Palm Beaches

The Seagate Hotel & Spa – Delray Beach

Imagine waking up, rolling out of bed, and stepping straight onto a private beach, cocktail in hand. That’s The Seagate Hotel & Spa for you. It’s effortlessly chic — think soft cream and off-white interiors, local-inspired photography, and a vibe that whispers luxury, rather than screams it.

Everyone's clicking on...

From the moment I arrived, the attention to detail was evident. From fresh, chocolate-covered strawberries arriving at my door, a gesture that set the tone for a stay filled with thoughtful touches and indulgent moments. It made me smile from ear to ear.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, I discovered Delray Beach’s hidden gem on my evening running ramblings: a thriving arts scene and buzzy nightlife. (Did I mention my obsession with thrifting? Because I found some serious vintage gold!)

Delray Beach is a gem — two miles of gorgeous coastline, and an arts scene that’s way cooler than you’d expect. There are also some absolute treasures in the vintage shopping department. If you like your beach days with a side of culture, this is the spot for you.

The Singer Oceanfront Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton – Singer Island

The Singer is coastal bliss. The moment you check in, you hear the waves crashing, feel the ocean breeze, and suddenly all your stress? Gone. The décor is cutesy and beachy — think soft blues, sandy neutrals, and just the right number of nautical art touches to remind you that yes, you are indeed living your best beachside life.

The beach bar is a whole kick-back-and-relax mood. 80s music hums through the speakers, the cocktails are dangerously good, and with a strong measure. The whole place feels like one big laid-back family gathering—where everyone is welcome. It’s the kind of place you could enjoy whether you're here for a family getaway, a romantic escape, or a solo recharge.

I spent my afternoons floating between the heated pool, my cabana, and the beach, book in one hand, icy drink in the other, fully embracing the 'do absolutely nothing' lifestyle. The Singer is designed for unwinding, soaking up sun, and embracing the carefree energy of seaside living. What’s the rush, man? If you ever need a reminder to just chill, The Singer Oceanfront is it.

What to do

Snorkelling in Peanut Island

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a mermaid, Peanut Island is the place to do it. This world-famous snorkelling spot is one of Florida’s best-kept secrets, tucked away in a calm, crystal-clear lagoon.

As a beginner snorkeler (slightly terrified of what might be lurking below), I was relieved to learn that the team at Get Wet Watersports lead you through your experience. The location itself is totally protected from boat traffic, making it super safe for newbies. The marine life? Unreal. I spotted parrotfish, angel fish, octopuses, crabs — you name it. Bonus points for the water being shallow and beginner-friendly, meaning you can just float along and pretend you’re in a nature documentary and not be too freaked out.

Go to a Polo match

Ever wanted to feel like you’ve stepped straight into The Great Gatsby? Because that’s exactly the vibe of a polo match in Florida. Champagne, big fancy hats, people casually owning horses —it’s high society at its finest.

I arrived slightly panicked that I wouldn’t be dressed fancy enough, but thankfully a flowy linen dress and red lipstick did the trick. The whole event felt like an old-school traditional celebration with socialites mingling, horses galloping, and me pretending I understood the rules of polo. (Spoiler: I absolutely did not. But I did sip champagne and clap at all the right moments.)

Watch tennis at the Delray Beach Open

This is a great day out for any avid sports fans. We watched world-class tennis players smashing forehands whilst the sun beamed down on our shoulders, while the crowd was a mixture of die-hard tennis fans and people just there for the vibes (I was the latter).

Morikami Museum

Visiting the Morikami Museum feels like accidentally stepping into a peaceful Japanese daydream — except it's in the middle of Florida. Think koi fish, zen gardens, and bonsai trees (that probably have their lives more together than I do.) These Japanese gardens also have native crocodiles & iguanas, and I 10/10 would recommend for instant inner peace.

Where to eat and drink

DaDa

DaDa is a historic American café, complete with fairy lights, live music, and an artsy, surrealist-inspired interior that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a lovely dream. I went all American with the slow-cooked beef ribs and fries, washed down with a medicinal root beer that tasted like a cure-all for my soul.

Top Shell

Singer Island’s only beachfront bar did not disappoint. They deliver an al fresco escape with extensive panoramic views of the beach. They serve up authentic island seafood flavours. I started with a pina colada, (because holiday mode = activated) and then demolished a new American coastal dish: a seafood platter with huge shellfish the size of my head, accompanied with Mahi Mahi dip and fresh lemon to squeeze. Beautiful.

LuLu's

You know a place is good when it’s packed with locals. LuLu’s is all about hearty, feel-good soul food with big portions to match. I ordered a freshly squeezed green juice (health), a Caesar salad with extra crunchy bacon (balance), and a side of truffle fries (self-care). The vibe? Loud, lively, and simply delicious.

Amar

The lighting is very low and candlelit, the ceilings are high and lofty, the whole space has this grand, almost cathedral-like energy. The food? A masterclass in Middle Eastern flavours. Every dish is rich & packed with depth. You can tell that the spice ingredients are freshly ground. If you like your meals authentic, bold and good quality, this is where you need to be.

Pizza Alfresco

If you're craving a slice of heaven, this spot has you covered! Nestled in a gorgeous outdoor courtyard in European styled architecture, this casual full-service pizza joint brings all the cozy, rustic feels. The wood burning brick oven is the real star of the show, because, let’s be real: pizza tastes better when it’s got that perfectly charred crust. Whether you're a purist who swears by a classic margherita or someone who loves loading up on toppings, their fresh, traditional pizzas are perfect no matter what you order.
