The Office for Product Safety and Standards has concluded the "Strawberry Bubble Tea" sets and the "Mango Bubble Tea" set are not fit for safe usage under the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

And government website has specifically named the "Brights Mango", the "Kawai Strawberry" and the "Santa" designs as the products to be recalled due to a risk of burns from the "lack of appropriate instructions and warnings," provided alongside the product.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards said: "The products present a risk of burns as they lack the appropriate instructions and warnings.

"The instructions provided indicate that the bubble tea should be made with hot water, but do not warn users that they should allow the drink to cool before drinking it.

"The drink could be too hot to drink through a straw and may result in the user receiving burns/scalds."

The Next website reiterates this statement with advice on what to do if shoppers have bought one of the products.
