UP CM Yogi inaugurates Rs 350 cr expansion of SLMG Beverages' Ayodhya plant
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the expansion of SLMG Beverages in Ayodhya, significantly enhancing production capacity and generating 900 new jobs. This ₹350 crore investment focuses on industrial growth, sustainable practices, and economic development in the region, contributing notably to the local economy.
The ₹350 crore expansion, undertaken by Amrit Bottlers Private Limited (a subsidiary of SLMG Beverages), will double the plant’s production capacity from 1,894 to 3,724 bottles per minute, catering to the growing demand for Coca-Cola’s beverage portfolio, including Thums Up, Sprite, Maaza, and Minute Maid.
The facility’s expansion is expected to generate 900 new jobs, increasing the total workforce to 2,500, while also creating indirect employment opportunities in logistics, retail, and allied sectors. The move aligns with SLMG Beverages’ broader plan to invest up to $1 billion in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by 2030.
Beyond scaling operations, the company is prioritizing sustainability, with the Ayodhya facility already leveraging a 15 MW DC solar power plant and 9.6 MW of wind energy. Plans are in place to expand renewable energy adoption further, reinforcing SLMG Beverages’ commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
“The expansion of our Ayodhya plant underscores our dedication to India’s economic growth and sustainable beverage production,” said Rakesh Ladhani, Director, Amrit Bottlers and SLMG Beverages. “With enhanced capacity and job creation, we are strengthening our operational efficiency while contributing to the local economy.”
The development positions Ayodhya as an emerging industrial hub, complementing its growing significance as a religious tourism center and a key driver of Uttar Pradesh’s economic landscape.
