Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is recalling more than 10,000 cans of Coca-Cola soda.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a release dated March 6 that 864 12-can packs of Coca-Cola Original Taste were recalled due to the possibility of a plastic contamination.

The recall was then upgraded to a Class II recall on March 26. Class II means that “use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The cans have a UPC code of 0 49000-02890 4, a date code of SEP2925MDA, and a time stamp of 1100-1253. The labeling says, “Canned Under Authority of the Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, GA 30313.”

The cans were mainly distributed to stores in Illinois and Wisconsin.

“The cases are being withdrawn because they did not meet our high-quality standards,” a spokesperson for Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling said to ABC News. “We are taking this voluntary action because nothing is more important to us than providing high-quality products to the people who drink our beverages.”

The FDA did not give instructions on what to do if you own one of these soda cans but the best precautionary measure would be to dispose of them or return them to the store for a refund.
