There's been a lot of excitement in the middle of Newcastle this week, as South Shields fish and chip legends Colmans opened their first ever restaurant in the city at a famous location. And the thing many potential customers wan to know is what's on the menu and just how much a meal there will cost.
This year will be the 100th year that the Colman family have been serving the people of South Shields, with their original home on the town's famous Ocean Road still going strong, as well as the stunning Seafood Temple that opened right by Sandhaven beach in 2017. And now, Colmans have restaurant number three, with doors opening on their new venue in Fenwick on Thursday, after a VIP preview on Wednesday saw the likes of Chris Ramsey, Steve Cram, Steph McGovern and American TikTok star Kalani Ghostunter sit down for a chippy tea and starters including mushy pea fritters and spam hash browns.
The menu for the invite only launch was set for the occasion, but those who headed along also got to browse the full menu, that was made available for the first time the day after.
