BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Laughing Sun Brewery co-owner Mike Frohlich said expansion plans could soon be in the works.

He said in the original lease, there was an option to buy the building, including the space next door, come October 2026.

Laughing Sun first opened in downtown Bismarck in 2012 then moved to its current space in 2018 where the brewery has expanded to include live music, axe throwing and barbecue catering. While he said the craft beer industry is struggling, he said the business’s diversity has kept it profitable as the idea of expansion nears.

“Right now, we’re looking at possibly leasing it back to the cabinet shop that’s already there. It could be a live music venue for larger shows that we don’t have space for now. It could also be that upscale or next level of catering that we can offer, like a wedding for 400 people or a concert for 600 people,” said Frohlich.

He said they’re also looking to expand their products with a hard beverage line this spring, which includes hard sodas and teas.
