Food, drinks, music and more: 5 places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the Brockton area

BROCKTON - Irish pubs and restaurants all over the world have been showcasing their green spirit this month and the big party is almost here. St. Patrick's Day is Monday, March 17, and many businesses will be celebrating the holiday all weekend.

Even though St. Patrick's Day is a work day, businesses still expect to be busy that day, as well as this weekend. Several businesses in the Brockton area have posted their St. Patrick's events for this weekend and Monday.

Here are five places in the Brockton area that will be hosting St. Patrick's Day events.

1. Tommy Doyle's at Sidelines in Brockton

Starting Friday, March 14, Tommy Doyle's at Sidelines, an Irish pub in Brockton, will have classic Irish food specials. Located at 235 E. Ashland St. in Brockton, Tommy Doyle's at Sidelines is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday noon to 10 p.m.

Here are some of their specials:

  • Corned beef and cabbage dinner $20.95 for take out: Half pound of certified angus corned beef, cabbage, carrots and turnips
  • Irish soda bread: Grilled Irish soda bread served with a homemade roasted orange butter.
  • Corned beef nachos: Homemade potato chips with our house blend nacho cheese, shredded corn beef brisket and scallions.
  • Doyle's "Bangers and Mashed": Guinness bratwurst sausages served with a pile of mashed potatoes and onion jus
  • Jameson BBQ burger: Half pound burger cooked to order and finished with cheddar cheese, pulled pork, fried onions and homemade Jameson BBQ sauce
  • Irish pizza: Our homemade pizza crust, loaded with mashed potatoes, house-cooked corned beef brisket, cheese, scallions and finished with pub mustard
  • Bailey's Irish Cream cheesecake: Classic cheesecake flavored with Bailey's Irish Cream with a chocolate cookie crumb crust

On Sunday and Monday, Tommy Doyle's at Sidelines will also host a St. Patrick's celebration

  • Sunday, March 16, Irish dancers at 4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 17, DJ Joe spinning tunes all day, then BFD Pipes and Drums at 10 p.m.

2. Mickey Malone's Tavern in Brockton

This tavern will celebrate on St. Patrick's Day with food and traditional Irish music with a local performance. Located at 347 N. Pearl St. in Brockton, Mickey Malone's Tavern is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from noon to 1 a.m.

Join Mickey Malone's Tavern on St. Patrick's Day for fun including:

  • Traditional gray corned beef and cabbage dinner
  • Green beer (lots of Guinness)
  • Live bagpipes played by Brockton Firefighters Pipes and Drums at 7 p.m.

3. Brockton Beer Company

Brockton Beer Company, at 121 Main St. in Brockton, is celebrating St. Patrick's Day for three days this weekend, March 15-17.

Brockton Beer's normal business hours: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Brockton Beer Company's Facebook page says the weekend includes live music, food, drinks and fun. "Join us for a 3-day celebration packed with live music, exclusive food specials, and the freshest brews to keep the good times flowing. Maybe even a little surprise or two. Get ready to raise a pint or a few, hear some great music and enjoy the best vibes in town. Don't miss out!"

4. Brack's Grille and Tap in Brockton

Brack's Grille and Bar is dishing up lots of food this weekend and cocktails. Located at 1280 Belmont St. in Brockton and open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Specialty cocktails include:

  • Spring Fling: Tito's Vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrups, soda water and pomegranate liquor floater
  • Tropical Dark N' Stormy: Captain Morgan, pineapple juice, ginger beer, coconut puree, Gosling Black Seal Rum floater
  • Blue Raspberry Lemon Drop: Stoli Raspberry Vodka, Blue Curacao, fresh squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup
  • Minty Peach Refresher: New Amsterdam Peach Vodka, Peach Schnapps, peach puree, lemonade, mint and a splash of soda water
  • Flirty Flamingo: Absolute Lime, pineapple juice, raspberry puree and grenadine

Appetizers include:

  • Old Bay chicken wings for $14.99: Crispy bone in wings tossed with Old Bay rub
  • Irish nachos for $15.99: House cooked potato chips topped with corned beef and Guinness beer cheese

Chef's Flatbread of the Week

  • Veggie for $15.99: Onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, tomato and broccoli

Entrees

  • Orange glazed salmon for $25.99: Grilled salmon seasoned with Tajin, glazed with an orange sauce served with two sides
  • Chicken Gorgonzola, a small for $16.99 and a large for $22.99: Chicken sautéed with shallots, roasted red peppers in a gorgonzola sauce tossed with trottole pasta
  • St. Patrick's dinner for $18.99: Red corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage

5. O'Toole's Pub in Whitman

At O'Toole's Pub the St. Patrick's Day events are all about saving money and staying busy all weekend long. Located at 24 Raynor Ave. in Whitman. O'Toole's Pub normal business hours are: Monday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Pub will however open early for the St. Patrick's weekend festivities below:

  • Friday, March 13: Jameson promo from 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 14: Open at 10 a.m., Six Nations: Ireland versus Italy and hoist a pint promo
  • Sunday, March 16: Open at 10 a.m., Spilt the G Guinness promo, bagpipes from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Monday, March 17: Open at 8 a.m., bagpipes 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Ken Snow from 4 to 8 p.m. and D.J Donaghy, first 50 customers get a free gift
