CONTENT creator Hayley Rubery recently revealed how she bagged a British Airways flight to Greece for just £1.

The bargain-hunting traveller booked her spontaneous flight just five hours before she had to leave her home.

Hayley spotted the incredible deal with British Airways, with the flight to the Greek capital costing just £1.

She bagged the £1 flight thanks to her British Airways Avios points, which she had accumulated from other trips.

The 34-year-old decided to bite the bullet and book a seat, with the plane setting off the following morning – leaving her just five hours to get herself ready before leaving for the airport.

Not only did Hayley have to pack but she had to source accommodation for her last-minute trip to Greece.

The 34-year-old content creator even made the challenge a little harder when she decided to travel to Agistri, a small island in Greece that she describes as 'paradise'.

She told Jam Press: "I booked the flight at 8pm the night before and woke up the next day at 2am for my flight.

"As I hadn't planned for it and didn't have holiday savings as such, it was super important for me to do the trip on a really tight budget."

In a bid to keep other costs low, Hayley booked a £5 bus from the airport to the port.

Then, she caught a £13 boat from Athens to Agistri - one of Greece's greenest islands.

Her accommodation was the biggest outlay, with a week-long stay at a B&B costing £420.

She added: "The island being so undiscovered with tourists meant that it was still so cheap which was a bonus.

"I decided not to hire a car and just get the bus to the beaches which only cost €2-3 (£1.68-£2.52), and the island was really small so I could walk most places too.

"It was super cheap there – takeaway coffees were €2 (£1.68) and dinner would cost €10 (£8.40)."

The content creator found £300 was plenty of spending money for the small spot.

In total, Hayley spent around £800 for the entire week back in July 2024 – and says the location made it worth every penny.

She added: "It was magical. With a population of only 1,000 people – and approximately 4,000 people on the island during the busy summer months – it really felt like a slice of undiscovered paradise.

"I spent the most blissful week reading, swimming and relaxing.

"It was heaven. The best part for me was the spontaneity.

Incredibly, the super saver has managed to find an equally cheap deal on flights for an upcoming girls trip to Palma, finding a £1 outbound flight from Heathrow with British Airways, and is planning a return trip to Agistri this year.

British Airways launched its Avios-only flights back in 2023 - here's everything you need to know.

Where can I get Avios points?

THE Avios rewards scheme lets shoppers earn points towards British Airways (BA) Executive Club flights, upgrades and hotel stays.

If you want to bag a £1 flight in the future, here are some ways you can accumulate points.

It partnered with Nectar in 2021, allowing shoppers to earn points with brands such as Sainsbury's, Argos Esso, eBay, Caffé Nero and Vue.

Currently, every 400 Avios you convert gets you 400 Nectar points, or around £2.

For example, 1,200 Avios points currently gets you an £6 spend at Sainsbury's.

This changed back in March this year.

Otherwise you can collect Avios points by signing up with one of these frequent flyer clubs: AerClub, British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, Vueling Club.

In 2023, the British Airways' Avios-Only flights sold out in less than 24 hours, with the cheap routes to both Sharm el Sheikh and Geneva.

The flag carrier also launched flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Barcelona for just £1 plus Avios points.
