Jesse Wine remembrance

Travelers Treasures will host a remembrance day for Jesse Wine from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at 118 N. Main St., Woodstock.

Northwestern Community Services Board

Ellen Harrison has been selected at the new executive director of the Northwestern Community Services Board. She starts her new job in May.

Harrison brings over 28 years of experience in public health to the role. Most recently, she served as the Chief Deputy Commissioner for the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, having been appointed to this position by Gov. Glenn Youngkin. In this role, she led a division pivotal in transforming external relations and implementing key agency initiatives.

Prior to that, Harrison was the Executive Director of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Services Board for over six years, following her role as Director of Acute Services. As Executive Director, she managed a staff of 250 employees and oversaw an annual budget of $17 million.

Harrison holds a master’s degree in business administration and is a licensed professional counselor. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from James Madison University.

RideSmart

RideSmart has announced the launch of a new commuter bus service starting May 13. The service will operate Monday through Friday, offering transportation from the Waterloo Park and Ride lot at 1812 John Mosby Highway in Clarke County to Rosslyn and Washington, D.C.

A ribbon-cutting event will be held at 5:15 p.m. on May 15 at the Waterloo Park and Ride lot. Information: 540-635-4146.

Tracy Miller, an Edward Jones financial advisor in Edinburg, recently received the firm's exclusive Spirit of Caring Award designed to recognize those financial advisors who exemplify the values, culture and spirit of giving back.
