Jeff Bezos was “ripped off” over the $4,000 bottle of wine he selected to toast his engagement to Lauren Sánchez last week, an American wine merchant has claimed.

Parcelle Wine, which is based in New York, said the billionaire Amazon founder, 59, got a bad deal on the reported $4,285 cost for a bottle of Dugat-Py Grand Cru from Domaine Bernard he enjoyed at La Petite Maison in Cannes.

“Wine fact of the day: Bezos knows less than you and got mega ripped off in France,” the company wrote on its Instagram account.
