57-year-old Indiana man killed in head-on crash in Washington County
An Indiana man is dead following a head-on crash Tuesday in Washington County.
The crash was reported just after 4 p.m. west of Salem, according to Indiana State Police.
Investigators said a man driving a 1993 Saturn SC2 was headed west on State Road 60 in the area of Abbott Lane. At the same time, a man driving a black 2018 Jeep SUV was going east, approaching the same location, state police said.
According to investigators, the driver of the Saturn -- identified as Jerry Edward Mosier -- crossed over the centerline for reasons unknown, crashing head-on with the Jeep.
The Saturn came to a stop in the middle of the road after the crash, while the Jeep spun out until it stopped on the north side of the road, investigators said.
Mosier, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators said neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
In addition to Indiana troopers, Washington County deputies, Indiana Conservation Officers and the Salem Fire Department responded to the scene.
