Margaret Williams of Falkland Islands Holidays recently attended Experience Latin America; an exclusive by invitation only travel trade event, held for the first time in Stamford Bridge, London.

Organised by the Latin American Travel Association (LATA), this was the sixth event held where the primary aim was to bring together key suppliers from the Latin America region along with top influential buyers from within the UK and Europe.

“ELA is invaluable in enabling us to meet new operators as well as developing relationships with existing suppliers,” said Ms Williams.

While three days are set aside for invaluable one-to-one business meetings, there is also the opportunity to attend seminars focusing upon key industry topics.

She said: “Furthermore, structured coffee and lunch breaks, along with evening events conveniently enables suppliers and buyers to progress relationships and business growth further.”

Falkland Islands Holidays had back to back meetings, with an average of 11 scheduled meetings per day.

“We are very pleased to advise that interest in the Falkland Islands as an experience destination remains strong and the introduction of an additional routing via Sao Paulo certainly garnered interest and associated potential for us as a destination,” said Ms Williams. (Penguin News)

This is a bizarre turn of events - a travel trade promotion for Latin America is held in ......Chelsea, of all places (I presume it is that one, as opposed to the real Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire), when the Falklands is almost adjacent to South America.

Definitely not the Stamford Bridge of 1066 fame, unless they were all hiding this morning!
