You’ve cut the grass, taken out the bins and even tidied your room – Dad’s got his feet up for the day, but what he really deserves is a proper good brunch, lunch or dinner.

Father’s Day comes around this June 16, the perfect excuse to indulge your old dad with some of the finest food the capital has to offer.

Believe it or not, the tastes of London fathers stretch beyond whisky and steak, so we’ve pulled together a whole range of special menus to satisfy dads of all predilections.

From blowout barbecues to vegetarian charity menus, and free beers to entire meals on the house, here’s where you should be taking dad this Father’s Day.

Hoppers Soho

Once a month, Sri Lankan sensation Hoppers hosts a Sunday Session at its Soho restaurant, a sharing feast served to groups at communal tables. This June, it falls on Father’s Day and chef Karan Gokani will be joined by Nial and Amanda Fernando to cook up a vegetarian meal. Tickets cost £35 per person, with all proceeds going towards the Kind Hearted Lankans charity, which supports people affected by the recent terror attacks in Colombo.

Scarlett Green

Your dad may be a demon with a barbecue – or at least thinks he is – but Antipodean spot Scarlett Green will take the tongs into their own hands, serving up their newly launched Australian-style barbecue menu this Sunday. Choose between a meat board filled with lamb tomahawk, onglet steak, smokey baby back ribs and more, or a vegan sharing board featuring fire-roasted aubergine and a barbecue tofu steak.

Sea Containers

Dads get a serious discount at Sea Containers on the South Bank – fathers dining at the restaurant this weekend can get their whole meal on the house, as well as a complimentary Old Fashioned. The offer is valid on both Saturday and Sunday for dads visiting for either brunch or dinner, with guests able to tuck into the likes of roasted squid with slow cooked coco beans, chorizo, parsley and pepper.

Red Rooster

There’s an all-singing, all-dancing Father’s Day to be had at Red Rooster where brunch is going gospel. Any dad attending the New York-hailing restaurant’s weekly musical brunch – which comes accompanied by a tune-belting gospel choir – will get a bottle of Camden Brewery beer on the house. Enjoy it with Southern-inspired dishes like Sammy’s chicken and waffles, and a short rib Benedict with Tabasco hollandaise.

Darby’s

Every day is a bit like Father’s Day at Darby’s – chef Robin Gill did, after all, name the restaurant for his late dad. The Nine Elms spot has also taken inspiration from the elder Gill’s love of music and shellfish and, as such, Sunday will see it run a deal on oysters. Visitors can get either half a dozen oysters with a pint of Guinness for a tenner, or half a dozen with two glasses of champagne for £30.

The Little Blue Door

Dads can also dine for free at Fulham’s house party of a restaurant, The Little Blue Door. The west London hotspot will be fusing summer barbecues with Sunday roasts by serving barbecued chicken or British beef rump in its townhouse-like quarters. Trimmings include rosemary roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, ham hock and tarragon stuffing, all alongside hispi cabbage and root vegetables also cooked on the barbie.

Angelina

Italian-Japanese fusion came to Dalston earlier this year in the form of Angelina, and now the restaurant is looking to mix up Father’s Day too. Dining dads will be offered a complimentary Mai Gai cocktail on Sunday, made with Japanese Suntory Toki whisky, Frangelico, Campari, Antica Formula sweet vermouth and chocolate bitters.

M Bar & Grill Twickenham

We’re sure your dad can rise to any challenge, so why not use the day to tackle the Mighty Tomahawk? Fathers dining at the M Bar & Grill in Twickenham can choose to take on a 1.2kg tomahawk steak served with triple cooked chips – the epic meal will cost £65, but dads who manage to polish it off will receive a bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Whisky on the house.

Kanishka

Atul Kochhar’s new Mayfair restaurant Kanishka is serving dads and their families both a special menu and cocktail this Sunday. For £40 per head, the Father’s Day menu features six sharing dishes for the table including sea bass tenga curry, potli-spiced Kentish lamb with pulao and a Sikkimese chicken bhutuwa stir fry. On the side, diners can sip on a toasted coconut and mango Old Fashioned.

Berners Tavern

Nicholas Koenig

The prospect of a three-course Sunday roast is probably enough to tempt you to Jason Atherton’s Berners Tavern, but add in the chance to win a trip to the Glenfiddich Distillery and whisky fans won’t need asking twice. Any dad that books a table on either Saturday or Sunday and quotes “Dad” when making the booking will be entered in a prize draw to win an exclusive tour of the Speyside distillery, with flights and an overnight stay included.

12:51

James Cochran prepares a roast at his restaurant every Sunday, but not as many of us know it. At Upper Street’s 12:51, the meat of choice is goat, and the roast is a take on the dish which won the chef the Champion of Champions accolade on the 2018 series of Great British Menu. When families tuck into a meal at the restaurant this Sunday, dads will be offered a free can of 12:51 x Brick Brewery “Loose Juice” Pilsner.

Hankies Marble Arch

Hankies Marble Arch are putting on an Indian feast this Father’s Day, with a complimentary glass of Cobra beer, gin and tonic or wine there to meet dad on arrival. From then, diners can choose between a light and bright spring menu, or an indulgent Sunday brunch feast, which features tandoor meats and street food-style egg dishes, with the option to add bottomless prosecco for £12.99 per person.

Duddell’s

For sophisticated Chinese food in a spectacular setting, Duddell’s is the place to be this Father’s Day. The London Bridge restaurant is putting on a one-off, three-course menu for the occasion. For £55 per person, diners can start with salt and pepper squid and hong shimeji mushrooms, move onto smoked Black Angus ribs with red wine soy, baby peach and prawn with bottarga chilli sauce, before ending the meal with chilled mango cream.

Galvin HOP Bistrot & Bar

Take your dad to Spitalfields spot Galvin Hop and you could end up taking him to Prague too. The bar and bistro – run by Michelin-starred chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin – will host a three-course Father’s Day lunch for £32.50 a head, during which dads will be invited to show off their pint-pulling skills in a beer pouring competition. All who take part will get their pint free, but the best in show will win an overnight trip for two to Prague and a tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery.

Pont de La Tour

Views in London don’t get much more picture-postcard than they do from Pont de la Tour. The terrace at the riverside restaurant looks out onto its neighbour Tower Bridge, and Father’s Day will see the stunning spot accompanied by a set menu. Start off with rabbit terrine, before moving onto either Brixham Dover sole or free range chicken, and finishing up with a creme brulee.

Upstairs at Trinity

Down in Clapham, chef Adam Byatt is serving a full-on Father’s Day lunch at Upstairs, the more casual restaurant atop Michelin-starred Trinity. For £45 per person, diners can start off with a glass of Black Velvet, share a plate of charcuterie and tuck into dressed Cornish crab or oysters with devilled mayonnaise, before indulging in slow-braised shoulder of Lake District rose veal with sage and walnuts, and finishing with a creme brulee and poached prunes.
