New OBR Mobile Command Center Takes to the Road

Pleasant Hill, MO – Operation BBQ Relief (OBR) announced today that it has a new mobile command center – a two-story 18-wheeler that once carried race cars. With a generous donation from Prairie Fresh® pork the mobile command center will travel to major events and provide critical support throughout the deployment.
Extensively modified, the mobile command center will serve as the office during deployments, has ample storage space, rest areas for staff and volunteers, and an expandable covered outdoor area for serving meals. The command center will travel with a separate truck and trailer carrying five commercial-grade large capcity smokers and a 50,000-watt generator. With these resources, OBR can hit the ground running and start feeding residents and first responders immediately.
“We are enormously grateful to Prairie Fresh for making this possible. While what we do is a simple thing at its core - showing up and serving good food to people who are suffering indescribable loss and the people who are helping them - the logistics are complicated. Our new mobile command center completely changes the game,” stated Stan Hays, co-founder and CEO of OBR. “One of the challenges of any deployment is getting all the pieces together as quickly as possible so that we can start to serve meals. With this new command center, we aren’t beholden to anyone – we can set up and start cooking as soon as we arrive.”
The mobile command center will be unveiled at its first deployment when OBR takes it to Walter Reed Medical Center to thank our service men and women and their families for their sacrifices with a meal prepared by award-winning barbecue pros on May 24th.
PrairieFresh, a product of Seaboard Foods, is the official pork supplier for OBR and regularly supplies truckloads of pork for various deployments. It has been a leading corporate sponsor since 2015.
“Every time OBR deploys to a natural disaster area, we are truly amazed how they immediately jump into action and quickly provide comfort and compassion to those facing the toughest of times with a hot meal,” said Duke Sand, Seaboard Foods president and CEO. “With the new command center, we’re excited to see how OBR and its volunteers reach new milestones in their mission and truly impact the lives of those they serve a hot meal.”
