"The Action Plan signed last year between the Chinese and Lithuanian ministries for agriculture provides a solid basis for the inter-institutional partnership. We are ready to continue the implementation of this plan, to carry out joint activities in the areas of agricultural economy and trade and food safety, and to jointly participate in international agricultural exhibitions, as well as to share experiences and information," Skvernelis said in a press release on Friday.

"We regard China as one of the priority export markets for the Lithuanian food industry," he added.

Saulius Skvernelis met on Friday morning with Chinese Agriculture Minister Han Changfu, on his first visit to Vilnius.

Lithuania's agricultural and food product exports to China, mostly cheese and curd, frozen blueberries, concentrated milk and cream, and alcoholic beverages, last year grew by 46% to 8 million euros. China ranked 45th out of Lithuania’s 143 export partners.
