People living in Australia know all to well how expensive the cost of living can be. 

Now entertaining in the country is officially one of the most exorbitant places in the world.

Australia is in the top most three expensive places to buy alcohol, cigarettes and drugs, according to a Bloomberg study.

The average retail price for products including beers, wine, spirits, ecstasy, cannabis, cocaine and heroin is the most costly in Japan with New Zealand and Australia following closely behind.

Assessed in the Bloomberg study was a pack of cigarettes (popular and premium), a bottle of alcohol (beer, wine and spirits), one gram of amphetamine-type stimulants (including methamphetamine/ecstasy), one gram of cannabis (including marijuana hashish resin), one gram of cocaine (regardless of base forms) and one gram of opioids (including heroin/opium). 

Per week, the average sale cost of the 'package' is $1,028.7 in Australia, compared to the $100 in tropical countries including South Africa and Colombia.

While laws play a part in the price of narcotics, Japan is the most expensive place in the world to purchase from with an average weekly cost of $1,366.4 followed by New Zealand at $1,241.6.

The country's drug prices are at some points three times higher than international prices.

As alcohol, drugs and cigarettes remain expensive in Australia, so does the country's housing prices.

People are spending almost 13 times their annual income on buying a new property, Domain reported. 

Out of 92 cities, Sydney was names the second least affordable for the third year in a row.
