Myles Beerman has admitted dropping out of the first team picture at Rangers has been tough to take.

The Maltese youngster has spent most of this campaign with the Ibrox side's development squad having made his breakthrough into the first-team set-up last season.

Beerman, who made his senior debut against Kilmarnock in April went on to make eight appearances in the top team including in two Old Firm derbies against Celtic but is yet to feature for the Gers first team this campaign.

The 18-year-old full back, who has two full international caps with Malta, is disappointed not to be in contention for Graeme Murty 's side but remains happy to continue to learn his trade with the Under-20's.

Talking to Rangers TV , Beerman said: “The coaches know what they’re doing for my development, so I need to take everything in a positive way and work hard as much as I can.

“Once you get that taste of first team football and play in front of 50,000 [people] every week, you want to keep on doing that.

“Obviously it is tough because you always want to push on in your career and everything.

“But you have to take it in your stride and say, ‘listen, it’s a part of your development’ and stay as positive as you can.”

Beerman's current contract with the Light Blues is due to expire next summer.
