EUR 50.2 mln available for Latvia from EEA financial instrument

EUR 50.2 million will be available for Latvia from the European Economic Area (EEA) financial instrument, according to draft regulations supported by the Cabinet of Ministers on the Latvia-Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway memorandum of understanding on implementation of EEA financial instrument in 2014-2021, reports LETA.
The main goal of the EEA financial instrument for 2014-2021 is to reduce
social and economic disparities in the European Economic Area and strengthen
bilateral relations between the donor countries and the recipient countries in
the priority sectors.
The financial assistance will be available in several priority sectors –
research and education, local development, reduction of poverty, cooperation in
culture, international cooperation for the police, fight against crime, civic
society.
