Foreign trade deficit in Аugust amounted to EUR 167 mln in Lithuania
Over the month (August 2017, against July), exports increased by 10.6, imports – 3.1%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (10.5%) (amount in tonnes increased by 7%), furniture (15.5%), oil seeds and oleaginous fruits (5.6 times). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of petroleum products (38.9%), crude petroleum (4.4%) (amount in tonnes increased by 0.5%), ships, boats and floating structures (22.9 times). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 10.4, imports – 1.4%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 13.1%, mineral products excluded – 12.8%.
Over the year (August 2017, against August 2016), exports increased by 20.1, imports – 18.8%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (47.2%) (amount in tonnes increased by 31.3%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (36.8%), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (19.2%). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of crude petroleum (34.2%) (amount in tonnes increased by 10.8%), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (20.4%), ground vehicles (25%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 15.9, imports – 16.2%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 14%, mineral products excluded – 7.2%.
In January–August 2017, against the same period of 2016, exports and imports increased by 17.3 and 16.8% respectively. The increase in exports was determined by an increase in exports of petroleum products (25.1%) (amount in tonnes decreased by 4.5%), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (26.2%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (28.7%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of crude petroleum (56.3%) (amount in tonnes increased by 6.2%), ground vehicles (20%), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (17.3%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 15.8, imports – 14.2%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 15.2%, mineral products excluded – 10.7%.
In January–August 2017, the most important Lithuania’s partners in exports were Russia (14.4%), Latvia (10.3%), Poland (8.4%) and Germany (7.4%), while in imports – Russia (12.7%), Germany (12.5%), Poland (10.7%) and Latvia (7%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (9.6%), Poland (9.2%), the United States (8.3%), Latvia (7.6%) and Sweden (7.6%).
In January–August 2017, the largest share in Lithuania’s exports and imports fell within mineral products (14.7 and 19.5 respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (15.8 and 18.1% respectively) and products of the chemical and allied industries (10.1 and 11.8% respectively). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within petroleum products (19.8%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (11.8%), prepared foodstuffs, beverages, spirits and tobacco (8.9%), live animals, animal products (7.8%).
