A man suspected of a hit-and-run crash was fatally shot by an Oklahoma City police officer while holding a stick, authorities said late Tuesday.
The two cops investigating the nearby wreck were confronted by the man outside a home around 8:15 a.m., believing they had found the fleeing vehicle from the crash, according to police.
Both cops opened fire, one with a stun gun, the other with a firearm, Oklahoma City Police spokesman Capt. Bo Mathews said at a press briefing.
The victim, struck by the gunfire, died at the scene, he said.
The victim and the officers involved in the fatal shooting were not immediately identified.
