Museum to host Alta coffee talk, tasting
Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History will host a talk and tasting featuring Alta Organic Coffee & Tea Co. from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at 1305 East Cliff Drive.
Representatives from Alta will guide participants through the processes of transforming coffee fruit into a morning ritual.
Owner and founder Patti Spooner will discuss her motivation for becoming one of the nation’s first coffee roasters to switch to all-organic coffee and highlight the sustainable and ethical differences between conventional and organic farming practices.
Following the presentation, Head Roaster Nina Monroy will lead a sampling of Alta’s medium-roasted Guatemalan coffee from the region of Huehuetenango.
Coffee will also be available for purchase.
General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for children and $5 for museum members.
