Medical insurance Bahrain grows by 19pct in 2016


(MENAFN) Bahrain's medical insurance controlled the sector increase at 19 percent last year, reaching USD163mn from BD52.20mn in 2015.

Furthermore, the kingdom's insurance sector showed positive results in the cited year, with general insurance business contributing 81 percent to the gross premiums.

In addition, total gross premiums in motor insurance grew from BD76.16mn in 2015 to BD78.88mn in 2016, an increase of almost 4 percent.

By the end of last year, Bahrain's local insurance market covered of 25 regionally incorporated firms and 11 overseas insurance firms.
