Australia’s upcoming Footscray Hospital advances with completed exterior

The new hospital is expected to be completed in 2025.

The construction of Australia’s new Footscray Hospital in Victoria has shown progress upon completing its external facade.

In a partnership between the Victorian Health Building Authority, Western Health, Plenary Health and Victoria University, the new hospital is expected to be completed in 2025.

The hospital, to be operated by Western Health, is set to have over 500 beds and will accommodate outpatient, mental health, palliative care, and surgical services.

Meanwhile, its facade is designed to allow in natural light and consists of over 7,500 glass panels, each weighing more than 500 kilograms.

The Footscray Hospital is part of the Labor Government’s health infrastructure projects across the west of Melbourne including the new Melton Hospital, and Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
