CAPITOLA >> Pelican Ranch Winery winemaker Phil Crews will offer Wine 101 – Wine Futurology from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the tasting room (102 Kennedy Drive). There is no cost to attend. Attendees are invited to “explore the past vs. the future.” There will be tastings of past releases of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinotage wines side-by-side with those still in the barrel (and Pinots will be available as wine futures). All participants will be given a chance to predict and discuss how these past and future releases will evolve through aging. Free pizza from the Pelican Kitchen will be available. Additional wine futurology ideas will be discussed during the tastings, such as “Will Pinot Noir disappear from CA because of global warming?” Call 831-426-6911 or visit pelicanranch.com for more information.
