ESPN reports that the team, which is located outside of the country's second largest city, Kaunau, hopes that the brothers will give them added publicity.

LaMelo was taken out of Chino Hills High School this year by his father, who had concerns about the school's basketball coach.

LiAngelo has been indefinitely suspended by the University of California, Los Angeles, after being caught shoplifting in China.

The Bruins prepared to play their season opener against Georgia Tech in Shanghai this past September.

Eventually LiAngelo, along with fellow freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill, were allowed to return to the United States after being forced to stay in China for several days.

The students were accused of stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton outlet near the hotel in Hangzhou where the team was staying.

LaVar Ball had publicly questioned what US President Donald Trump, who took credit for getting the ballers out of jail, had actually done.

Trump hit back with a 5am Twitter rant in which he branded him a 'fool' and compared him to legendary boxing promoter Don King.

He wrote: 'It wasn't the White House, it wasn't the State Department, it wasn't father LaVar's so-called people on the ground in China that got his son out of a long term prison sentence - IT WAS ME. Too bad! LaVar is just a poor man's version of Don King, but without the hair. Just think.'

He continued in a second tweet: 'LaVar, you could have spent the next 5 to 10 years during Thanksgiving with your son in China, but no NBA contract to support you. But remember LaVar, shoplifting is NOT a little thing. It's a really big deal, especially in China. Ungrateful fool!'

LaVar Ball criticized Trump in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo.

'What did he [Trump] do for my son?' Ball asked Cuomo. 'I don't have to go around thanking everybody. I don't have to go around thanking everybody.'

Of the two Lithuania-bound Balls, LaMelo is considered more talented by sports analysts.

Older brother Lonzo, 20, plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.
