A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by two different men as she made her way back from a music festival on a train, police have said.

The teenager was travelling between Newquay and Plymouth after the Boardmasters music festival on August 12 when she was helped with her luggage by a man wearing a novelty shark hat.

After she got on the train, the man sat next to her, tickling her and attempting to take her phone after she refused to give him a kiss.

She moved away from him and told a second man what he had done. She was then touched inappropriately by the second man who said his name was Lance, who also touched himself, police said.

Police said the incidents happened between 8.45pm and 9pm. They are appealing for witnesses.

Investigating officer Det Con Matt Grieve added: "This was a deeply upsetting and shocking incident for this young woman."

He added: "If you were on board this train and witnessed what happened, or saw two men acting suspiciously, then I would urge you to get in touch."
